With NAACP preacher William Barber practically running the North Carolina Democrat Party, Senator Hagan sided with NAACP activists yesterday and against the Fraternal Order of Police and a murdered policeman's widow.

Senator Hagan voted to confirm Debo Adegbile as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights. Adegbile is celebrated in left wing circles as the NAACP Legal Defense Fund lawyer who sprung convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal from death row with false charges of racism.

As the Daily Caller reported, Faulkner’s wife has asked lawmakers to vote against Adegbile’s confirmation. “The thought that Mr. Adergbile would be rewarded, in part, for the work he did for my husband’s killer is revolting,” Maureen Faulkner wrote in a letter.

The Fraternal Order of Police has also called on lawmakers to vote against Adergbile because of the case, which they said “turned the justice system on its head with unfounded and unproven allegations of racism.”

President Obama and left wing civil rights advocates had mounted a full court press for Abegbile. Facing a tough reelection campaign, Senator Hagan refused to join other Democrats who helped Republicans block the nomination.

It's sad when a Senator like Kay Hagan puts her political base above the pleas of a slain policeman's widow.
