Even as the Greensboro Coliseum was losing millions, city records show no hint Coliseum Commissioner Mark Walker ever objected to a $51,000 raise for the Coliseum's Director.
Remember Mark Walker gives as a qualification for Congress, ''I was appointed to the Greensboro City Council’s War Memorial Commission that oversees the Greensboro Coliseum and other venues. I work with the budget/finance team within the commission ''http://walker4nc.com/profile/view/MarkWalker
But look at Mark Walker's record overseeing the Greensboro Coliseum.
Despite a $2 million budget deficit at the Coliseum requiring taxpayers to make up the hole , the News and Record reported ''In July, City Manager Denise Turner Roth signed an agreement increasing Coliseum Director Matt Brown’s salary of about $212,000 by about $51,000 to $263,000, retroactive to Jan. 1.
The city also agreed to give Brown a one-time payment of an additional $51,000, under a contract released by the city Thursday. ''http://www.news-record.com/news/government/article_f7698c40-1663-11e3-a8d5-001a4bcf6878.html
Instead of objecting to that lavish pay package, War Memorial Commission minutes show Mark Walker said nothing, preferring to go along to get along.
He might be a nice guy. But if taxpayers can't count on Mark Walker to fight waste at the Greensboro Coliseum, how can he handle Washington?
